We celebrated Grandparents’ Day in our Manawa (Infants Room) by inviting grandparents to spend quality time with tamariki. Children followed their usual morning routines, and after their sleep, just before afternoon tea, all grandparents arrived. Their joy and surprise were priceless.

The tamariki greeted their grandparents with kisses and excitement. Some children took their bags, ready to leave with their grandparents, while others settled in to enjoy the day. Together, we had afternoon tea, engaged in activities, and gave grandparents a tour of the room.

Children were proud to show their grandparents how they play and what they do at the centre. The day was filled with happiness, connection, and shared moments. Some children went home with their grandparents, while others said goodbye before staying until their usual home time.

This event helped strengthen tamariki’s sense of belonging and allowed grandparents to see their grandchildren’s relationships with kaiako and the learning environment. We look forward to continuing these events to further strengthen relationships with parents and whānau.
