Interacting with our local fire department
Nothing much gets past BestStart Marchwiel…. We noticed the local Fire Department were busy setting up an array of things at a house across the road and set off to investigate. Our children have been interested in fire safety lately so this was perfect timing! We found out that they were using the house in question to practice drills and were excited to see two fire trucks come out.
The fire men came over to us and took the time to show our children what they wear piece by piece and allowed time and space for them to explore each item. Our tamariki watched intently as they completed the drills and were asked if we would like them to bring the truck over to our side of the road and explore the hose!!!
Our tamariki took turns to use the fire hose while interacting with our local Fire Department. These community links are so valuable as we promote our children’s wellbeing and belonging and help them to develop a strong identity as active participants of the world around them.
