We often have parents who come to visit our centre comment on how big our outdoor learning space is. Our children enjoy working in the outdoor environment and as kaiako we encourage them to take care of and to help maintain the natural environment. The tamariki get involved by helping to prune the rose, to rake the leaves off the ground and are also encouraged to learn about all the different ways we can care for our plants and the insects that live within them.

Our centre is inspired by Maria Montessori who believed that if children are allowed to interact with nature that they would show their true potential. She also felt that children need to be able to have contact with nature so they can not only appreciate the order that nature brings to life but to also to learn about nature's beauty and harmony.

At Montessori The Gardens we want all of our children to find their true potential and worth and we work in unison with our natural setting to help achieve this. Caring for our environment is maintained as one of our biggest routines of any day.
