Our tamariki had a wonderful and exciting time welcoming local police officers to our centre. This special visit created a meaningful opportunity for children to connect with real-life community helpers while building their understanding of safety and wellbeing.

The officers spoke about road safety, showed us their important equipment, and gave the tamariki a close look at the police car, complete with flashing lights and sirens, which sparked great curiosity and enthusiasm.

Through this hands-on experience, children explored ideas of trust, helping others, and keeping themselves and their community safe. These moments reflect our commitment to learning through play, where real-world experiences strengthen confidence, communication, and social understanding.

Tamariki asked thoughtful questions, shared their own ideas, and engaged in rich conversations that supported their developing sense of belonging and contribution. This visit also connects strongly to our local curriculum and the principles of Te Whāriki, fostering relationships with our wider community and recognising the value of learning beyond the classroom.

Ngā mihi nui to our visiting officers for making this experience so memorable for our children and team. Experiences like this strengthen positive community relationships and help tamariki gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
