Peek-a-boo with friends
The Parera and Makomako friends were playing in the tunnel outside, crawling in and playing peek-a-boo from the ends. After watching some friends for a while, a tamariki crawled over to investigate. They found the teacher (whaea) playing peek-a-boo with a hua (friend) and sat and watched for a while. Then she crawled in to try it out for herself. She popped her head out of the tunnel, and the whaea called out "boo!" resulting in a chuckle from her.
The teacher asked where she was going now, and she pointed to the other side of the tunnel and then ventured back in. But as she was coming around the corner, another hua crawled in behind her. They both sat down in the back of the tunnel and giggled as the whaea called out "where are the children? I've lost them" Before popping their heads out and continuing the game of in and out the tunnel, chasing each other and sharing in the fun.
