At BestStart Māngere East, we absolutely love our PJ dress-up days! We do them often as a little treat for our tamariki, especially when it’s cooler outside.
Our tamariki get cosy in their cute PJs, enjoy warm milk and cookies, and have lots of fun getting into the spirit of dressing up.
Teachers also set up a relaxed movie session in the afternoon, along with calm activities like reading at mat times, colouring, playdough, and jewellery making to make the day extra special.
These days are always full of laughter, big smiles, and excitement. Tamariki love expressing themselves through their PJs, sharing ideas with friends, and showing off their creative outfits.
Parents enjoy seeing their children so engaged and happy, often commenting on how much their little ones love these special days. For teachers, PJ dress-up days are a highlight—it’s heartwarming to see our tamariki feeling cosy and confident.
These moments help build social skills, foster friendships, encourage self-expression, and create a strong sense of belonging in the centre. We can’t wait for the next PJ day!
