At BestStart, all staff undergo the required safety checks before working with children. Centres follow established security procedures, including managing visitor access and maintaining clear records of who is on site. These processes help ensure children are cared for by trusted adults and remain safe while attending our centres.

Children's safety depends on having appropriately screened adults, clear security procedures and effective supervision. Early childhood services have a responsibility to ensure that the people caring for children are suitable, trustworthy and able to provide a safe environment.

Robust safety and security processes help protect children throughout the day and ensure that only authorised adults have access to them. These measures also provide reassurance for families that their child is being cared for in a secure setting.

Good to know

  • Families should let the centre know if their authorised pickup people change so records can be kept up to date.
  • Visitors are required to follow centre sign-in procedures when entering the service.
  • If someone different is collecting your child, it's important to let the centre know in advance and follow the centre's collection procedures.
