Can I stay with my child during settling visits?

Yes. We encourage parents and caregivers to stay with their child during settling visits so you can both become familiar with the childcare environment, teachers and daily routines.

Settling visits are an important part of helping children feel safe and confident before they start childcare. They give your family the opportunity to get to know the environment, meet your child's teachers and begin building trusting relationships together.

Every family is different, so settling looks different too. Some children benefit from a gradual transition over several visits, while others are ready to settle more quickly. We'll work closely with you to create a settling plan that reflects your child's needs, your family's preferences and the best possible start to childcare

Good to know

  • Settling visits are a great opportunity to ask questions about routines, learning experiences and daily life at the centre.
  • You know your child best, so sharing information about their interests, routines and comfort strategies can help teachers support a smoother transition.
  • Children don't need to participate in every activity during settling visits. Taking time to observe and become familiar with the environment can be just as valuable.
